Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In a Road-to-Vehicle TCP/IP communication system, occurrence of shadowing caused by other vehicles and dead zone between adjacent spots lead packets loss in large quantity, and data throughput deteriorate because of repeated packet retransmission by timeout. Though the technique of Freeze-TCP has proposed to overcome this problem, it must be needed an accurate estimation of long-term shutdown with the round trip time (RTT) in the Road-to-Vehicle communication network. Hence this paper proposes the differential power comparison (DPC) method, which estimates long-term shutdown at a mobile station by comparing differential power. Computer simulations reveal that the occurrence of shadowing can be estimated with high accuracy irrespective of RTT fluctuation, and the throughput at a mobile station is improved 1.5 times as large as that of conventional method by applying the Freeze-TCP to the DPC method. This paper also illustrates that the DPC method can estimate the approach of dead zone between adjacent spots.
