Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The describing function is one of the most common methods of dealing with nonlinear control systems. The method is known as a tool for the analysis of periodic phenomena. However, the results obtained by this method are only approximate because the high frequency components of the oscillations are usually ignored. To justify the describing functions, many researchers have proposed efficient methods for the estimation of the error bounds for the describing functions. However, the dependence of the bounds on parameter values is not clear because the error bounds are obtained only numerically.

This paper presents a pure algebraic method of error-estimation based on Groebner bases. We can obtain the algebraic representation of error bounds for the describing functions using Groebner base. Because the algebraic representations with system parameters are obtained, we can clarify the global behavior of the error bounds in parameter space. Further, we propose a modified method which is well-suited to Groebner base. We confirm that the modified method improves the estimation considerably.
