On Quasi-Cyclic LDPC Codes Based on Cyclic Difference Families

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We present a method for constructing regular low-density
parity-check (LDPC) codes based on cyclic difference families,
which are a special type of balance incomplete block designs.
These codes have a quasi-cyclic structure,
which allows low complexity encoding
with simple feedback shift registers,
and have girth more than 4.
However, there always exist 6-cycles in partial circulant matrices.
We propose a method for reducing or avoiding of 6-cycles.
The resulting codes still preserve quasi-cyclic structure.
