A Probabilistic Method for Computing the Weight Distribution of LDPC Codes

(in English) LDPC codes achieve outstanding performance by the sum-product decoder. The decoding error probabiltiy approaches the maximum-likehood (ML) decoding performance at high SNR region. Upper bounds on the decoding error probability of ML decoded linear codes can be computed using the wight distribution. However it is infeasible to compute the weight distribution of LDPC codes with long length and high dimension through the exhaustive enumeration. Usually the performance of LDPC codes is evaluated through decoding simulation. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic method for computing the weight distribution of LDPC codes. Using the proposed method, the weight distribution in range near the minimum distance of LDPC codes can be computed, and that evaluates decoding error propability at high SNR region.
