Novel Initial Acquisition Scheme for IR-UWB Systems in Multipath Channels

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper a novel initial acquisition scheme which reduces the acquisition time of the sliding correlator in impulse based ultra wide band (UWB) systems is proposed. In the proposed scheme pulse signals for acquisition as well as for information are transmitted. The acquition scheme is divided into two stages. In the first stage, the correlator is synchronized with the pulse signals for timing detection. Based on the timing information of the pulse signals for acquisition, the timing of the pulse signals for information transmission is determined in the second stage. Consequently the acquisition time can be reduced.

Furthermore, in the multipath channel the acquisitions for timing and information are operated in parallel. The proposed scheme for the multipath channel is effective in the multipath channel.
