Our previous work has shown that the superiority of addition change over deletion in pattern recognition is mediated by the feeling of something strange (we call “Iwakann”) which subjects experience when they saw such a changed pattern. Three experiments examined the nature of facial expression elicited by taste stimulation given contrary to expectation. The results showed that the unexpected taste stimulation given to subjects increased the oddness score of Iwakann scale, and made their facial expression blurred and delayed. These findings were discussed in term of the communicative meanings of the facial expressions to the unexpected taste stimulation. |
