A Proposal of Multi-Modal Quality Estimation Model for IP-Videophone Service
Takanori Hayashi, Kazuhisa Yamagishi (NTT)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) With the advances in IP and multimedia technologies, multimedia services such as videophone and video streaming are being developed and provided. It is important to properly evaluate and manage users’ perceptions of multimedia quality of service (QoS) in order to assure a comfortable QoS. This paper proposed a multi-modal quality estimation model for IP-videophone services. Concretely, the model considering video monitor size, the individual audiovisual qualities, and synchronization between audio and video signals was established for IP-videophone services provided by cellar phones, PDAs, and PCs. The quality estimation accuracy of the proposed model was good enough because the estimation error of the model was less than the statistical reliability of the subjective score. We also applied the proposed model to unknown data to verify its validity.
