Low loss waveguide written with femtosecond laser for flexible interconnection in planar lightwave circuit

(in English) We successfully wrote the low-loss single-mode waveguide in PLC glass, which is composed of boron-phosphorus-doped glass and is more difficult to write the waveguide than pure silica. The written waveguide has the rectangular core shape as well as the symmetric near field pattern, and has a propagation loss of 0.35 dB/cm. The loss originated form the mode-field mismatch between mode field diameter of written waveguide and that of PLC one was less than 0.1 dB/point .In addition, we successfully connected PLC waveguides with 500-m-long waveguide written with a laser. The laser-written waveguide flexibly connects the PLC waveguides with low coupling loss.
