A Drive Circuit for LED with Constant-Current Control

(in English) Recently, white LED with an excellent feature such as low power consumption and long life is paid to attention as a new lighting system. A piece of LED is small, and brightness is related to constant current. Therefore, It is necessary to connect two or more pieces for enough and certain constant luminance. The series connection is more suitable than the parallel connection because of respect of the number of parts and efficiency as connected method. Because the series connection can suppress the difference of the brightness of each LED compared with the parallel connection that needs the ballast resistance that adjusts the difference. However, the series connection needs constant current to the breakdown. Then, this paper presents an analysis of the drive circuit for LED with constant-current control of a back and a boost DC-DC converter.
