A Quality Control Mechanism for Multimedia Streams based on the Multi-RTCP Scheme for QoS Reporting over Wireless IP-Based Networks

(in English) A variety of IP-based multimedia applications have been developed and provided due to the penetration of the infrastructure of IP communications including wireless IP network. This paper presents an evaluation of a quality control mechanism based on the Multi-RTCP Scheme over hybrid networks composed of varied networks. We examined a rate-adaptive sending method for RTP packets based on detailed application-level QoS information on the hybrid network. The QoS information which includes each portion of the hybrid network is reported by the Multi-RTCP scheme. We present advantages of the rate-adaptive sending method using the Multi-RTCP scheme through end-to-end speech quality evaluations based on a comparison with the existing transmission schemes of RTP packets in practical conditions.
