Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation plays important roles in various wireless communications scenarios. The circular uniform beam array (CUBA) DOA estimation method that achieves DOA estimation of coherent waves has been applied to the electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antennas. The aim of this paper is to investigate both eigen-calibration and minimum mean square error (MMSE) calibration methods of ESPAR antennas for the CUBA DOA estimation technique. The sectorized calibration method is also proposed to improve the calibration accuracy and DOA estimation performance. The minimum angular separation of two coherent waves is reduced from 45° to 15°. By applying the filtering function in the calibration, the technique can estimate two uncoherent waves that impinge within the calibrated region and suppress out-of-sector interference.
