Fractal dimension of environmental sound in various use district
Tomohiro Ohisa, Hideo Shibayama, Yoshiaki Makabe (S.I.T.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Minato-ku with a population of about 160,000 persons has 8 use districts.
We measured environmental sound in each use district in summer and winter seasons.
As the data analysis, equivalent sound level, spectrum and fractal dimension of the sound waveforms are calculated.
The use districts are industrial and shopping districts where the equivalent sound level is high.
The fractal dimension relates with the self-similar and complexity.
In summer season, the fractal dimension for residential district is the highest among the use district
by the singing of the cicadas that have the high frequency spectral range.
And in winter season,
sound by neighborhood facility cause the high fractal dimension for the shopping district.
