A Study of arc-fusion splicing techniques for holey fibers

(in English) We report experimental results of fusion splicing for HA-HF and PS-HF. The splicing losses between the conventional SMF and the holey fibers have been able to be reduced by optimization of splice conditions. In the case of fusion splicing between HA-HF and the conventional SMF, we have achieved a splicing loss of 0.05 dB in average by collapsing its air holes into a tapered shape. We have studied the connectorization for the HA-HF. In the case of fusion splicing between PS-HF and the SMF, we have achieved a splicing loss of 0.20 dB in average and a tensile strength of 13.7N in average employing intermitting discharge after splicing.
