This paper describes measurement results of a disturbance produced by a fluorescent light. With advent of electronics devices, inverter technologies are introduced into fluorescent light in order to reduce electric consumption. However, the inverter devices always produce electro-magnetic disturbances. Therefore, EMC characteristics of the fluorescent light with inverter need to be clarified when we use the light in proximity to electric/electronics equipment. We measured not only continuous conducted and radiated emission from the light, but also transient conducted pluses when the light was turn on and off. Moreover, superimposing characteristics of these disturbances were measured. The results showed that the conducted and radiated emissions from fluorescent light with inverter were higher than that from fluorescent light with rapid starter. Furthermore, the level of the disturbances were proportional to square root of operated unit number. |
