Topology and Traffic Aware Channel Assignment for Layer-2 Mesh Networks

(in English) This paper proposes a channel assignment technique suitable for the IEEE802.11-based mesh networks. Given the multiple orthogonal channels for IEEE802.11 systems, it is effective in improving the system capacity for each mesh node to select an appropriate channel, while ensuring connectivity to other mesh nodes. We addresses the importance of dynamic channel assignment in a distributed manner and describes a channel assignment technique that enhances the system capacity significantly, ensures the network connectivity. The proposed technique is verified with experimental results obtained by a practical hardware simulator.
