Properties of muscle contraction and fatigue in the different muscle fiber using MMG and muscle tension

(in English) EMG records the electrical activity of muscle contraction. However, MMG records the vibration of muscle contraction and has different characteristics from the EMG. In this study, the muscle tension and MMG of soleus and gastrocnemius of the rat were measured, while the electrical stimulation was made on those muscles at 2~100Hz and the muscle tetanus was caused. According to the results of MMG in stimulating electrically at 20Hz, it was clarified as follows: (1) There were differences in the frequency at which the soleus and gastrocnemius causes the tetanus; (2) the MMG reflected not the total increase in the muscle tension caused by the tetanus but the fluctuation of it.
