Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) A reflection spectrum of a superstructure fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) is
strongly dependent on the phase differences between the reflected lights
from sub FBGs. To obtain the desired phase differences, it is neccesary
to control the FBG spacing very precisely in several tens nano meters.
From this reason, it is difficult to make the desired superstructure FBGs.
In this report, a novel method to identify the structure of a
superstructure FBG using the least mean square algorithm is proposed.
Moreover a novel method to make a superstructure FBG using the proposed
identification method is also reported. In this method, the phase
differences of the fabricated superstructure FBG is identified, then the
number of UV pulses to correct them to the desired values is calculated.
Finally the reflactive indices at the gaps between the sub FBGs are corrected in a batch process.
By these methods the requirements to the accuracy of the movable stage to be used in the fabrication process is drastically relaxed and it makes easy to
make the desired superstructure FBGs.
