On-Spool PMD Estimation Method for Optical Fibres Using Polarisation OTDR

(in English) We propose an estimation method of PMD for optical fibres by measuring local DGD (Differential Group Delay) using Polarisation OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometry). We explain the principle and the measurement set-up. We have confirmed that this method has high measurement repeatability. We have also confirmed that this method is applicable to on-spool fibres unlike conventional PMD measurement methods.
