Relationship between SBS threshold and CNR characteristics in a single-mode optical fiber

(in English) We discuss the definition of the input power limitation caused by stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in a single-mode optical fiber. We experimentally clarify the correlation between different SBS threshold definitions by taking the various types of single-mode optical fibers into consideration. We also clarify the relationship between the SBS thresholds with different definitions and analogue transmission performance by evaluating the input power dependence of the carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) characteristic. Moreover, we discuss the evaluation conditions required for accurate measurement of the SBS threshold.
