(in English) Development of information storage technologies by magnetic recording that are key for ubiquitous information society is reviewd in terms of thier reason of progresses and necessity in the society. perpendicular magnetic recording which has been finally commercialized would make further progresses in the recording density increase so as to reduce the size of HDD system dramatically. The key components of perpendicular recording such as recording heads or recording media are disucssed in thier development and future important issues.
Mobile phone, navigater system, digital TV and so on as well as PC will be waiting for such a small size HDD systems to be installed in the near future for further convenience of them.
