This study is intended to clarify the effect of underground media on electromagnetic field produced by cloud-to-ground lightning. In this paper, we carry out numerical analysis using the FDTD method considering
conductivity and permittivity of underground media and examine the intensity and the time of the peak of electromagnetic field signal on a ground point and in a underground point. The present investigation presented that, by using two-layers underground model, one can obtain the analytical results similar to the observed results with regards to the time of the peak. This can be an important result to show the mechanism of the shift of the underground electromagnetic field peak time. |
