Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Automotive batteries and battery state detection

Trends of the future automotive power-train were overviewed, focusing on the power source and battery system. Various batteries were comparatively described along with the detection methods of battery state, that is state of charge & state of health.
More detailed description was given on the latest development of lead-acid batteries, both flooded and valve-regulated types and a smart battery with built-in tester was introduced. In order to cope with the ever-glowing demands of the industry the battery technology and performance will be enhanced, while its selection and utilization must be optimized in the system of power-train, both technologically and economically.
