Dependence of the Mutually Compensatory Property of Multimedia QoS on Contents Types

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This report clarifies how the mutually compensatory property of QoS depends on the content type in audio--video IP transmission. For that purpose, we conducted an experiment with 10 contents which are classified into five types.
In the experiment, we transmit audio--video streams with various values of guaranteed bandwidth for audio and that for video. Then, we assess user--level QoS and perform QoS mapping between user--level and application--level by the multiple regression analysis. Using the obtained regression lines, we examine the dependence on the content type.
As a result, we confirm that the mutual compensation relationship between audio and video differs from one content type to another.
