Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We aim to develop a sensor that checks up diseases caused by the trace metals in human body using differential pulse stripping voltammetry, one of the highest sensitive method in electrochemical analysis. As a part of the aim, a sensor applied to screening for taste disorder was developed here. It is reported that 140,000 patients have developed taste disorder in the whole country every year; taste disorder can be considered to be a kind of national affliction. It is therefore necessary to develop a technology, which can examine for taste disorder easily and inexpensively. Moreover, a noninvasive examination technology can be realized by using saliva as a sample of measurement. The optimum measurement conditions about working electrode, buffer solution and sopporting electrolyte have been obtained experimentally; as a result, we could detect and quantify Zn and Cu causing taste disorder, at the concentrations comparable to the amount contained in saliva.
