In the thoracoscopic surgery, finding a lung cancer from the shrinking lung is not simple task. To assist locating the cancer, we develop the navigation system for thoracoscopic surgery. Since a lung is deformed from preoperative shape by collapse, intraoperative estimation of lung deformation is needed. We employ Chui's point-based non-rigid registration to estimate the lung deformation. Estimation accuracy of Chui's method is affected by number and distribution of the input points.
In order to clarify the relationships between them, we performed simulation experiments. As a result, if enough contour points were measured and labeled matching method was used, estimation error was about 15 mm even when number of sampling points from the lung surface was 5 points. |
