An Efficient Message Forwarding Method using Chord in P2P Networks

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper proposes an efficient message forwarding method for file searching in P2P networks. Search messages are forwarded using information in finger tables of Chord that is a kind of Distributed Hash Table (DHT). In file searching, the same message received redundantly increases the load of a node. To reduce redundant messages, Index value is used for limiting a reference range of finger table entries. Index value is contained in a message and its initial value is the number of finger table entries. This value is decreased when the message is forwarded.
