Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a potential candidate to extend the coverage and capacity of a infrastructural network. As the routing protocols have been established, providing Quality-of-Service (QoS) in MANET has to be addressed. In MANET where resources are variable, necessary resource information has to be collected prior to provisioning QoS. In this paper, we propose an on-demand QoS metric information collection scheme on pro-active routing protocol. Unlike the conventional QoS provisioning schemes where QoS metrics are collected by the periodic control messages, our scheme does it only when QoS provisioning is necessary and thus impose little overhead. Results from computer simulation validate the control signal overhead reduction that we achieve in our proposal. |
