An adaptive algorithm for continuous cancellation of the effect of acoustic feedback path in hearing aids
Hideaki Sakai, Takehiro Fujinaga (Kyoto Univ)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It is well known that the conventional adaptive algorithm for cancellation of the effect of the feedback path in hearing aids is biased. In this paper the stationary point of the adaptive algorithm by splitting the delay in the conventional one is derived by a method considering the causality constraint and an explicit expression of the bias is obtained. Also, a stability condition is mentioned. An algorithm for continuous cancellation is proposed for the autoregressive (AR) case with the conventional configuration where two adaptive filters are provided for obtaining the estimates of the feedback path and the AR model, respectively. The latter estimate is used to whiten the input signals of the former adaptive filter. It is shown by simulations that the new algorithm converges considerably faster than that of the existing two unbiased adaptive algorithms.
