Design and Evaluation of Transaural Reproduction System Using Head Model

(in English) We propose a design of transaural reproduction systems for stereo loud
speakers to localize sound from binaural sources, using psychoacoustic
property of the human auditory systems. The system models human head
as a rigid ball and Interaural Time Difference (ITD) and Interaural
Level Difference (ILD) are used to approximate the Head Related
Transfer Function(HRTF). A pinna model is also added. Transaural filters
are designed by combining all these techniques with an approximation
to make the system realizable. Crosstalk cancellation of the proposed
system is actually measured, and subjective experiments show that our
transaural filters can achieve sound localization comparable to a
binaural listening with headphones.
