Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper presents a 20-Gb/s simultaneous bidirectional transceiver using a resistor-transconductor (R-gm) hybrid in a standard 0.11-um CMOS. Since the R-gm hybrid extracts the inbound signal from the signal line voltage and current without using a replica driver, it eliminates the need for the precise matching between the replica- and main-driver characteristics. The fabricated transceiver occupies 1.02mm2 and consumes 260mW in the 20-Gb/s operation. The overhead due to the hybrid was 0.2% for area and 3% for power consumption.
