Fundamental study on control command input system by using laser devices for handicapped

(in English) We studied a selective control command input system for the handicapped. A user of the system selects one of the photo-detectors on a desk by using a laser pointer on his/her head. Each detector corresponds to a command of a device for the handicapped, e.g. Functional Electrical Stimulation system. A signal from the detector is compared to the baseline that is a signal measured without laser light. If one of the detected signals is much greater than the baseline, the system recognizes that the detector receives the laser light. Therefore, the user can select a control command by using the laser light. We verified the feasibility of the system that recognized the selected photo-detector, even if the background light varied.
