Gain Fluctuation Characteristic of the high-speed EDFA based on digital controlled circuit

(in English) Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems are evolving photonic networks employing reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADM) and optical cross-connects (OXC), in order to improve reliability and effectiveness. In such networks, high-speed automatic controlled erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) are required to suppress the dynamic gain fluctuation caused by adding or dropping channels. Therefore, we have improved the fiber parameter of EDF, and evaluated the effect on the transient response. And at the same time, we develop the superior high-speed EDFAs with several operating method (AGC/ALC/ACC), based on digital controlled circuit. The high-speed EDFAs in AGC method, the dynamic gain excursion can be suppressed about 0.3dB, when the input power is changed by 16 dB, corresponding to the loss or addition of 39 out of the 40 channels.
