A method for rate control and clock frequency estimation to achieve high-quality video transmission

(in English) In order to realize stable real-time video transmission over dynamically changing wireless channel, it is an effective method to adaptively control video rate and physical rate according to the channel condition. Authors have proposed such rate adaptation control algorithms in reference [6]. In this paper, another algorithm is shown for video receiver station to quickly and precisely estimate the clock frequency of the video sender station. After the frequency estimation, the receiver station can perform network-jitter removal control with a strict constraint for drift-rate, which is specified in MPEG2. These algorithms enable possibly high quality video transmission over error-prone wireless channel. The performance of the proposed algorithm is shown through experimental result.
