This paper describes WPAN (Wireless PAN at 60 GHz) standardization activities at IEEE 8082.15.3c, which is supposed to transmit 2 Gbps (or higher) mandatory and 3 Gbps (or higher) optionally both at PHY-SAP (Service access point). The subcommittee has finalized system requirements, selection criteria, usage models and channel models and issued Call for proposal (CFP) as well as call for intention (CFI) in January, 2007. The CFI and CFP are due on March 1 and May 7, 2007 respectively. Current selected usage models are video streaming and information down/up loading both in point to point communications. Air interfaces discussed so far include single carrier and OFDM and down selection process may start in July, 2007. |
