An Objective speech quality assessment based on payload discrimination of lost packet

(in English) This paper presents an objective speech quality assessment based on the payload discrimination of loss packets. Several speech quality assessments using IP transmission quality such as packet loss rate, delay, and jitter have been proposed. However, the objective speech quality estimated by using the IP transmission quality often differs from the user’s perceptual quality, since user’s perceptual quality is strongly affected by the features of signals included in loss packets. Therefore, our proposed assessment has the process that can evaluate the importance of loss packet for user’s perceptual quality by predicting the features of signals included in loss packets. Thereby the importance of loss packets can be reflected to speech quality as-sessment. Our proposed assessment can be implemented the mobile phone terminals, since it does not need the signal process-ing that need high computational cost.
