Localization Using Adaptive Node Selection Method in a Sensor Network

(in English) For various kinds of applications in wireless sensor network, the positional information of each sensor node is essential. In order to know the exact position of each node, the location estimation method using TOA(Time of Arrival) information is often considered. Some conventional algorithms used TOA for TOA-based estimation, however, are easily degraded due to serious time delay of received signal caused by NLOS(Non Line of Sight) propagation channel.
In this paper, some novel techniques which use Adaptive Node Selection Method for location estimation are proposed. The proposed algorrithm has two position-fix processes. Firstly, we select the sensor nodes in LOS(Line of Sight) environment and eliminate the other sensor nodes in NLOS environment. Subsequently, we perform normal location estimation using these selected sensor nodes. Some computer simulations show the proposed technique can achieve robust and precise estimation compared with conventional systems.
