Performance improvement for OLSRv2 by using link metric ETT in wireless mesh network

(in English) In wireless mesh networks, there are two important factors, routing protocol and link metric. Traditional routing protocols do not always use better links in routing calculation since they select the shortest-path in terms of the number of hops. In this paper, we propose to use Extended Transmission Time (ETT) as the link metric in OLSR, called ETT-method, for network performance improvement, and examined modification of the OLSRv2 protocol for this end. We also propose a method, called ETT-method with additional links, where additional symmetric links are advertised by TC messages, aiming to use better-quality links for routing calculation. We evaluated the performance of the proposed schemes by simulation. Simulation results show ETT-method with additional links, improves packet delivery ratio about 8% compared with ETT-method, as this method can improve the possibility of advertising better quality links.
