With the rapid increase of access network transmission capacity, WDM-PON has been considered as an attractive solution for future optical access networks. In WDM-PON systems, colorless technology of ONU is one of the important issues and several schemes have been reported. Among them, a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA)-based scheme is attractive since the downstream optical signal is remodulated and used as the upstream signal. However, due to the use of the same wavelength, it has been considered to be difficult to achieve symmetric bit-rate systems. In this paper, we have studied RSOA-based WDM-PON systems with symmetric bit-rate by using SCM technique. |
