[Special Talk] Analog and Digital in Character Analysis and Recognition
Hiromitsu Yamada (Tamagawa univ.) PRMU2007-225
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Two topics are discussed. The first topic is related with the objective of this meeting, i.e., reviewing a book “New trend in pattern recognition and understanding” published in 1994, where the author was in charge of “evaluation of characters and recognition system.” “Artificial character recognition” i.e., recognition for artificial character set, is discussed. The second topic is principle of “continuous nonlinearity” in pattern recognition which the author has proposed, where the principle is reviewed and the impotance is re-verified. Inter-related topics between these two are discussed.
