MIMO-OFDM Soft-decision Demodulation and Reduction of Computational Complexity for Millmeter-wave Mobile Camera

(in English) A TV-studio-use wireless HDTV camera, which is called “a millimeter-wave mobile camera”, is being developed. In this development, it’s very important to ensure the channel reliability, so examined is an application of a MIMO-OFDM system with soft-decision, which unifies the likelihood information calculation in Maximum likelihood Detection (MLD) and soft-decision Viterbi decoding to reduce the calculation complexity. As a result, in a case of MIMO with two transmitting and four receiving antennas, it was confirmed that BER performance was improved in 2.7dB with approximately 45% computational complexity compared with previous demodulation scheme for the camera, and degraded in only 1dB with approximately 3.7% computational complexity compared with ideal soft-decision MLD in computer simulation.
