Our previous research suggested that rat cerebral blood flow (CBF) in ischemic tissue using dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) method was over estimated. We proposed that the proportional constant between signal intensity and tracer concentration is different for normal and ischemic tissue. NMR signal reduction acquired by DSC method in a tissue including different vessel diameters was compared to computer simulated estimations. The signal reduction ratio in the tissue for dilating vessels was simulated on the appropriate assumption of the vessel diameter distribution. The results show that the proportional constant in the ischemic tissue increases with vessel dilation. |
