Modeling of the ECG wave by using Gaussian functions

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) A new human identification method based on electrocardiogram (ECG) signal is introduced in this paper. The human heart is considered to be unique system of each person, therefore the ECG signal is also considered to be unique of each person. ECG signal is generally composed of the 3 waves (i.e., P, QRS and T). We consider that each wave is modeled by the Gaussian function. The average of Gaussian function corresponds to the position of peak of the wave. The standard deviation of Gaussian function corresponds to the width of wave. In this method, the one period ECG signal is modeled by the weighted sum of three Gaussian functions. Thus, the ECG signal is represented by only 9 parameters. We show the effectiveness of the proposed method through examples.
