Current Density Distribution in Human Model due to Low-Frequency Contact Currents

(in English) In this paper, the basic characteristics of electric field and current density distributions in the human body resulting from 60Hz contact currents are demonstrated. First, the numerical method which is partly modified from SPFD method is proposed, and the validity of the improved method is confirmed by comparing with measurements with a simple model. Then, electric fields and current densities in the human body are calculated by three pathways of contact currents: left palm to both feet, right palm to both feet, and right palm to left palm. For contact current of 0.5mA (the reference level set by the ICNIRP), the maximum value of current density in spinal cord is five times greater than the basic restriction of 2mA/m2. In addition, it is found from results that 33 ~ 40% of contact currents flow through the heart under three pathways.
