The purpose of this study is to generate a shape model to analyze the shape of the human diaphragm. The purposed method extracts the upper surface of the diaphragm from CT images firstly, and then, sampling the extracted surfaces into point sets that present the shapes of the diaphragms in CT images. The shape model construction includes identification of the point correspondence between the different CT cases and generates a statistic shape model using the principle-component analysis. A CT image database that includes 46 patient cases was used in the experiment and a promised result of the shape model construction was accomplished. |
