A Load Balancing Method for Radio Access Servers to Handle a Large Number of Wireless Terminals

(in English) We propose a load-balancing method for Radio access network servers (RANSes) to authenticate and control communication of several billion scale wireless terminals, for the purpose of realizing a wireless network infrastructure in the ubiquitous age. Efficient assignment of the RANSes is necessary for handling such a large number of wireless terminals (WTs). On the other hand, decreasing the loads caused by location-registration or authentication of mobile terminals is required in wireless environment. Therefore we propose an algorism to build distribution table of RANSes by considering three points, which are (1) not-dividing paging area, (2) assignment a group number to each WT for RANSes distribution, and (3) handling neighboring paging areas by the same RANS, because we expect that the load-balancing method has advantages for decreasing the loads by moving WTs. We evaluate our method of load-balancing and building distribution table by simulation, and confirm that it can achieve load-balancing by 3 bit information for WT group number and reduce loads of mobile WTs by considering neighboring paging areas. And, it enables to change distribution table minimally for load-balancing of RANSes when loads are unbalanced.
