| (in English) | Structural priming (SP) effects have been substantially investigated in head-initial languages (e.g., English). Our previous study has also observed priming effects in Japanese, a head-final language, through an oral sentence fragment completion task (a monologue style task) wherein the participants produced either active or passive verbs following argument NPs. The current study further examines priming effects using a confederate-participant picture-description task (a dialogue style task) wherein the participants produce either active or passive sentences as a whole. We further investigate whether SP effects are much stronger in dialogues than in monologues, as observed in other studies. Based on the current findings and those of the two experiments in our previous study, implications for the recent models of sentence production are discussed. | |
