Self-IQ-imbalance Compensation Scheme without Reference Modulator nor Demodulator

(in English) There are imperfections in analog RF circuits which are serious obstacles for the realization of high data rate transmission. We focus on IQ imbalance in a quadrature modulator and demodulator, which is one such imperfection. In conventional IQ imbalance compensation schemes, extra hardware for reference modulator and demodulator, extra training signals in data frame, or iterative blind estimation schemes are needed. This paper proposes a new self-IQ-imbalance compensation technique without such extra hardware nor signals. The proposed method can estimate IQ imbalance by connecting the modulator and demodulator directly via a phase shifter. Then the IQ imbalance parameters can be estimated analytically by using feedback signals with two different phase rotations. Validity of the proposed scheme is confirmed by an experiment using RF fading simulator hardware.
