Statistical Mechanical Approach for Computational Neuroscience -- With the use of the Primary Visual Area Model --

(in English) In this study, we propose a multi-hypercolumn model consisting of $K$ hypercolumns. Adjacent hypercolumns have inter-hypercolumn interaction
with each other through horizontal connection. This model has both inter- and intra-hypercolumn interactions. These interactions are mexican hat type. It is known that a bump activity occurs corresponding to input orientation without inter hypercolumn interactions. The bump activities on the adjacent hypercolumns attract each other in the presence of inter-hypercolumn interactions. Here we analyze the model based on the statistical-mechanical method. In this model, we theoretically show that the free energy is equivalent to posterior distribution in the Bayesian framework in the case of extremely small inter-hypercolumn interaction. The numerical experiments support the equivalence between \textit{microscopic} network structure and \textit{macroscopic} computational theory.
