In this research, holographic PDLC is formed in photoreactive monomer/liquid crystals mixture containing sensitizer using two-beam interference as the writing beam. Rose Bengal was added into the mixture as a sensitizer or photoinitiator dye to initiate polymerization of photoreactive monomer by green-blue light. As a results, we found that diffraction efficiency decreased due to increment of Rose Bengal ratio and showed various pattern with different writing time. It is assumed that diffraction efficiency changes on time during the writing process which is caused by the changing of liquid crystal direction. Furthermore, the polarizing microscope pictures suggested that formation of the gratings were depended to the phase separation degree of the photoreactive monomer/liquid crystal containing Rose Bengal. |
