| (in English) | In this study, we investigated echolocation behavior of 3 bat species which use sonar pulse with different frequency structure during landing flight. In addition, we analyzed relationship between flight and echolocation behavior in flying bat by measuring wingbeat and pulse emission timings. Changes in IPIs show that timings to get the information of surrounding environment were different between the three bat species. Also, the pulse emission timing was synchronized with the wingbeat cycle of the bat, which also corresponded to the duration of flight muscle activity. Synchronizing wingbeat with pulse emission timing appears to work for advantageous motor control. These results suggest that bats would achieve good balance between flight and echolocation, which allow bats’ biosonar to have effective navigation by ultrasound sensing system. | |
